The fact we spent 3 first round picks on Trey is at the very least enough to give him a chance at competition. Do you really suggest we get rid of him without giving him a chance to compete after seeing 3 games from Brock? That's dumber than giving Jimmy $120 million after just 5 games.
He deserves a chance to compete, nothing more.
If Purdy shows that he is capable of being the guy then who gives a crap about draft position. It's a sunken cost at this point.
If Kyle decides that Purdy gives them a better chance of winning a SB in the near future and Lance is still going to require a lot of growing pains before he possibly reaches his ceiling, hand Lance a clipboard and LFG!

Have you met this fan base? We have a guy on here with an entire account dedicated to trashing our punter because of his draft cost years ago...

Completely happy with Mini Jimmy as he's been playing Jimmy football which is great football but I think Trey is going to be the guy personally.

f**king terrible take. Apparently 3-0 isn't good enough. Same as when Jimmy was playing. Wins don't matter. These Madden fans want stats and espn no look airyards. Give me a break.

Mini Jimmy? How about superior to Jimmy.

From what I have seen of both of them, Lance does not have an edge in mobility. Purdy is nimble, and smooth, and sets up defenders very well on rollouts. It has been a while, but I don't recall Lance having those characteristics.
As to arm strength; the knock on Purdy as to arm strength is not valid. He has shown plenty of arm strength to get the ball where it needs to go when it needs to get there. No, we haven't seen him throw it 60 yards yet, however, but he has thrown some darts into tight windows that were all arm with limited space to step into the throw. As the season goes on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kyle will dial up some longer throws just to see how it goes, however, Kyle has likely already seen enough to know what he has.
In the end, Trey does have a lot of catching up to do and there won't be a lot of time given over to that with this team chasing Lombardis.

It's a tricky situation, especially if Purdy ends this season looking efficient while sprinkling in some playmaking ability. I am a believer that SB windows are short, especially on a team where the QB is not the focal point of the offense/team. I would be willing to take some lumps to let Lance develop but we don't know how long that will take. Is it a one year thing? Is it a 6 game "tryout" during the 2023 season to see how quickly Lance progresses while knowing they have Purdy in their back pocket?
I no longer care where each QB was selected. Brock is showing he can operate this offense, and maximize the result on some plays - that was the missing element with Jimmy imo. This team has too many playmakers in their prime to dick around and see if a project QB is the long term answer when they need an answer at QB right now. I'll trust Kyle to make the right call since he is in the meeting rooms with these guys. I think he is putting more weight on "win now" than "build for the future".
I posted in the Lance thread about this. If we didn't have such a great roster that's ready to win, I'd be okay with letting him play and seeing what we got. I just don't want to waste this opportunity on that, because odds are we wouldn't won't be super bowl. I'd rather play with a QB that we know can operate at a high level and let the chips fall where the fall.
if Lance ends up sprouting and start balling, then of course start him. Idc who ends up being our FQB, I just want one to lead us to Super Bowls.

Totally agree on both posts. No doubt, next year will be interesting on how this plays out . I will give the edge to Purdy because his body of work in college and how the offense not only didn't miss a beat when he came in but actually look more explosive under him..and the whole team believes in him. Then you add these playing time the last few games and playoffs are so valuable in his development that puts Lance behind. A 6th rounder (Brady-before he was the goat) replaced a former number 1 pick(Bledsoe) or a 3rd rounder replaced a high priced signing (Flynn). So Its safe to assume Shany will pick the player who can run his offense regardless of draft positions. Team is ready to win now.

The only high draft pick that has served us really well is Bosa in the Lynch/Shanahan era. Look at the disasters of Soloman and Forster for example. Draft picking is a guessing game that is sort of guided by a number of educated guesses. Most of it in reality is luck. College performance does not always equate to success in the NFL. Look at last year QB draft. Only Lawarence is doing reasonably okay. Wilson, Mac have fallen on their faces.
